I love this thing! September 2, 2010 A. Forte (New Jersey) I love this MP3 player. It's nice to handle, a good size, not bulky or heavy. My elderly mother has the exact same model and even with her arthritic-ridden hands, she is able to operate this with ease. It's not too small and not too big. Perfect size. The BEST thing about this MP3 is that it runs on one triple A battery. No need to worry about not being near anything to recharge it or having to replace expensive recharge batteries, just throw in a new triple A battery from the drugstore and you are good to go. I listen to music and audiobooks all the time- I am a heavy user- and this thing runs for weeks on one battery. I like the plastic case it comes with, mine is over 5 years old and still looks brand new because of the plastic case I never take it out unless I am changing the battery. I love the armband because I can velcro this around my arm, leg, on the strap of my purse or anywhere it will slip through and it's out of the way but with me all the time. It's fairly easy to use, I did not have to use the software cd that was included, I plugged it into my laptop with the USB cable it comes with, and it sync'd itself to my windows media player. It was that simple. I also use the local library software for my audiobooks (overdrive media console) and was very easy to sync it to that as well. I am not that computer saavy so don't ask me how this thing sync'd itself to my laptop. It did. I can delete my books and my music through Windows Media Player and I have approximately 100 songs and 3 audiobooks on this thing right now and it is still only half full. This model apprently has been discontinued but you can still buy it on Amazon.com. I would recommend this to anyone that is not into teeny tiny itsy bitsy electronics, who needs something very uncomplicated and something that will last as long as you take care of it.
Bought for the A-B playback. September 1, 2010 R. Hudson I asked for this player for my birthday because I needed something with an A-B playback. Personally I use it for choreographing to music but I know others who use it for writing reports/books, language learning, or memorization.
The first thing I had to do was load up my music. Unfortunately I tried to do this in windows media first... just don't, not if you want playlists etc since the attempt will drive you mad. So I took a hint from the Rhapsody advert that came in the package and gave it a try; instant success! In fact it was so easy I am ready to transfer more of my music than what I need for work purposes.
Next I had to figure out how to use the A-B playback, the quickstart manual didn't cover it. I didn't want to use the disk that came with it since my computer doesn't have a tray system and the disk is a smaller size so I went to ([...])and downloaded the PDF of it. There I found the instructions that directed me to hold down the AB button to activate it and I was good to go. (It is also the repeat button so pushing it without holding it down cycles through repeat one, all, and none.)
I love this product. The AAA battery gives 19 hours of use, the buttons are larger and easy to use under any circumstance, even with the larger size the player is lightweight, the hold button prevents any unintended changes, the menu is easy to navigate, the sounds quality is great, and the separate volume button lets me change it instantly. I wholeheartedly recommend this player to anyone wanting a good MP3 player with A-B playback.
Garbage player for audiobooks July 31, 2010 J. Knowles I hated this piece of garbage. I am trying to find a decent replacement for my slowly dying Creative Muvo v100 and this isn't it. The documentation is non-existant. I spent hours trying to get it to sync with Windows 7 or 2008 server. I finally found a forum post mentioning that there are multiple modes. Once switched into MCT mode, I was able to copy files cleanly onto the player just like the Muvo, but it plays the files in alphabetical order BASED ON THE MP3 TAGS! Frak! Then I read that you can create a playlist to play the files in the order you want, but that didn't work either. The stupid thing just kept sitting in the settings menu and never playing. After 4-5 hours of wasted time I ended up taking a hammer to the thing just to relieve the stress. Total piece of garbage. Alphabetical order based on the MP3 tags, what moron thought of that concept?!?!
Perfect if you want to use AAA batteries July 15, 2010 Action music lover (California) I have purchased two for use in different places. I am buying a third as an upgrade for the M240 I have with 1 GB memory. This is perfect if you want to be sure with regard to battery life. An Ipod is a pain if the battery runs out. A AAA battery weighs almost nothing, so I always have a spare. Battery swap takes 20 seconds max. The battery lasts quite a long time. Requires mp3 or wma files, so Ipod stuff has to be converted. Loading new files is really easy, and the unit automatically updates its file system when you load new files. A simple file copy from windows via USB cable if you have the correct file format. The enclosed armband is perfect for exercising. The display may not be the brightest, but is quite usable when you want to use it. Note that 2 Gig of memory is a lot of songs. More than enough for exercising if you set it for shuffle.
MP 3 player June 17, 2010 Steve (Aloha, OR USA) I have used this for a maybe a year now. The only problem I have is if I deleted files, the player would have brain fade and not work properly. When I add files, I do not delete any until it gets unwieldy. Then I delete all the files and am required to re-format the player before I add any new ones. I had to get help to do a re-format since it wasn't covered properly in the instruction book.
Steve
